The Redbase Jezebel

Thrilled to spot a newborn Redbase Jezebel (Delias Pasithoe) in its natural surroundings next to its empty pupal case! The pupal case is the butterfly's home for the time it miraculously changes itself from a caterpillar to a butterfly. It's a piece of art, and an engineering marvel - delicate enough to be opened effortlessly by a dainty butterfly, but strong enough to protect it while it is in its confines. The strong and elastic silk girdle holds it in position enduring winds, rains and the occasional vigorous defensive wiggle.
