A hot, humid, rainy summer night, the split AC's steady hum, and a strange long hiss that seemed to be coming from the wall - these were ideal conditions for a newly Potter struck person to suspect the presence of Salazar Slytherin's pet around. The hiss stopped the moment we went near the wall and started as soon as we moved away. It had to be Nagini!
Turned out, nothing was in the walls, and nothing was hissing. It was just this fine young Katydid fellow on the spider plant rubbing its forewings together, snug in its perfect camouflage. It didn't like being taken photos of. But we persisted till we heard the calls of a gecko around! And then the basilisk hunters had to flee for life!
Oh the joys of summer!
